B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering

Overview

  • Location - GHRU Amravati
  • Duration - 4 year
  • Program Type - Full time
  • Approved by - UGC

Electrical engineering is the domain of engineering that deals with the study and the application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is a professional engineering 4-year undergraduate course. It equips one with all the knowledge and skills one needs to develop new electrical equipment, solve problems and test various equipment. Thus, electrical engineers have a crucial responsibility thrust upon their shoulders. That is to take adequate safety measures while designing and approving equipment and deriving maximum utility of the equipment as per need. They use this course's knowledge to evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications. And also design and conduct research programs, thus applying their theoretical knowledge practically.

Course Structure

This course is of Four Years divided into Eight Semesters. The Semester wise Examination will be conducted.

Eligibility

If the student has qualified for their 12th board exams from any recognised board, they can take admission in GHRU graduation courses. The minimum required marks for open category students is 45%, while for reserved category students, it is 40%. Thus, the eligibility criteria are fundamental, and one can quickly get admission in the B.Tech in Electrical Engineering program of GHRU.

Admission Procedure

  • Before starting every admission cycle, the University issues a notification on the University website, notice board and other public domains like newspapers, etc.
  • After the last date of application is over, a list of shortlisted students is put up on the University website, notice board, or the students are informed directly about their admission.
  • You are eligible to apply even if you’re awaiting the results of your qualifying examination(s). Such candidates are offered provisional admissions and have to submit their previous years’ mark sheet to confirm that they fall into the eligibility criteria. You must submit your mark sheet before the due date of applying for admissions. Once the provisional admission is approved, the candidate will have one month to provide the mark sheet for the qualifying examination. Subsequently, failing to do so will result in the cancellation of provisional admission.
  • If a candidate is granted provisional admission under the above-mentioned conditions and the said candidate fails to meet the eligibility criteria or has failed to obtain the required marks. In that case, the provisional admission is cancelled.
  • An application form is rejected for the following reasons:
    1. The candidate fails to fulfil the eligibility criteria provided by the University.
    2. The admission is cancelled if the candidate fails to enclose the prescribed fee.
    3. Provisional admission is cancelled if the application form does not contain the signature of the candidate and their parents/guardian, wherever applicable.
    4. The candidate fails to submit the supporting documents in time for admission
  • After submitting all the necessary documents and fees, the student will be assigned an enrollment number by the University.
  • Rules set by the University for the process of admission will be applicable from time to time.

Careers

The importance and need of Electrical Engineering are immense, and so is the requirement of proficient electrical engineers in the industry. Thus they have a broad scope and career opportunities in several sectors. The sectors include Power Corporation in MSEDCL, Electronics, IT consultants or Manager, Aviation Technology, Communication Technology, Radio Engineers, Electromagnet Engineers, Aviation Power Supply, etc. Moreover, TCS, ONGC, MTNL, BSNL, BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) are among India's major hiring companies. Government organisations also require the services of people from an engineering background and not just private companies. Thus, the future of a sound and dedicated engineer looks bright and promising.

Further Studies

An engineering graduate can explore a variety of options. They can either go for higher studies and establish a better grip on their choice of field. Otherwise, they can also get directly employed and start working in the industry. People who wish to pursue higher education have various specialisations to choose from in their postgraduate courses. Some of which have been mentioned below:

One can do M.E, M Tech or MS. in subjects like

  1. Power Systems
  2. Control Systems
  3. Power Electronics
  4. Electrical Drives
  5. Power System Protection
  6. Power Utilisation and Management
  7. Energy Management
Job Opportunities

As mentioned above, public as well as private organisations hire engineering graduates. Some of the departments which hire them are State Electricity boards, power generation/Transmission/Distribution Companies, BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited), ONGC, etc. BSNL, MTNL, TATA Power, Adani Power, Reliance Energy, Wipro, L&T are among other famous names.
